2009 Year in Review

2009 was a great year for us and one that will always rank high on our list of "Best Years".  Here's a quick recap of what we loved most about 2009.

We rang in the new year in a very low-key way.  I was a month away from giving birth, and we were staying in a hotel.  Our New Year's Eve festivities consisted of watching a "Dawg the Bounty Hunter" marathon then watching the ball drop on tv, toasting with sparkling apple cider and asleep by 12:15 a.m.  And it was probably one of my favorites to-date.

My baby shower was thrown by Sofia and Liane.  I had a great time with friends and family!
Janeysa & Frank got married on January 31. Ron and I attended the beautiful wedding just 3 days before I gave birth!

February 3- Kaitlyn arrives! The most beautiful and happiest day. Our gorgeous daughter Kaitlyn Elizabeth makes her debut.

Kaitlyn is baptized!
After 6 weeks of living in a hotel, we finally bring Kaitlyn back to Quito.

Kaitlyn celebrates her first Easter!
April 24-Kyle Caruso is born!  My dearest friend Liane gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

I celebrated my first Mother's Day!
We took Kaitlyn to her first beach trip in Canoa, Ecuador.

Ron celebrates his first Father's Day!
Kaitlyn meets her Great Grandma Rahm in Miami.

Mom T and Barby visit Quito.
Mom & Dad G visit Quito.

I got my new toy, the Canon Rebel XSi!

Ron and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary with a special  once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Galapagos Islands.
Kaitlyn met her Great Grandmother T.

We had so much fun with Kaitlyn on her first Halloween!

Ron and I left Kaitlyn with a babysitter for the first time to celebrate the 234th birthday of the Marine Corp at the Marine Corp Ball.
We had some great friends over for Thanksgiving.

We surprised our families with an impromptu visit from Kaitlyn and I.
Kaitlyn met Santa for the first time and had a great Christmas!

2009 was such a fantastic year.  I'm not sure how 2010 can top it, but I know it will be filled with many more adventures and good times.  Happy New Year!

Kaitlyn's Climbing!

Tonight, I walked out of the room while Kaitlyn was playing on the floor, when I came back in, she was up on the futon!  Here she is demostrating her latest accomplishment.

Kaitlyn's First Christmas Video

The video is a bit lengthy (just over 6 minutes), but it really highlights all of the smiles, laughs and reactions Kaitlyn had while opening Christmas presents.  Enjoy!

Don't forget, if you're reading this in an email message you'll have to actually visit the blog to view the video.

Kaitlyn's First Christmas

We had such a great time watching Kaitlyn enjoy her first Christmas.  She wasn't really sure what to do or where to start, but she loved all of the toys! :)

I hope to post video highlights soon.  Merry Christmas!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Ron and I have had such a great time decorating for Christmas this year.  It's amazing how your child can make the holiday season SO MUCH MORE FUN!  Although she hasn't really got a clue of what it's all about, who Santa is or why Christmas music has been playing in the house, in the car and on Daddy's alarm clock, it's still such a joy because now it's all about her.  She does seem to love her tree and all of the new decor.

Our entry table displays the nativity scene.  (Please ignore the fact that the "grass" is on top of the "snow".)

Kaitlyn loves the lights!

Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care.
Living room decorations.

We bought an artificial tree online this year.  After going to cut down our tree two years ago and not knowing what kind (if any) we'll be able to get at our next post, we decided it would be worth the investment.  It was difficult shopping for a tree online, but we decided on this 7.5 footer.  Just out of the box: (I think Kaitlyn is wondering what this big tree is doing inside the house.)

Not the best picture, but here is the tree all lit up.

Kaitlyn admiring her tree.

Our ornaments over the years:

2006: Ron's co-worker made this one out of computer circuit board when we were dating.

2007: Our first Christmas as husband and wife. (Please excuse the fingerprints.)

2008:  The last Christmas of "just us".

2009: It's all about Kaitlyn!  We are still waiting for her "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornament to arrive, but we bout this first one a couple of months ago.

And Nana G sent this one.

The table display on our coffee table (which has since been moved thanks to Kaitlyn's curiousity and recent ability to reach the bowl.)

And the display on the dining room table.
