Kaitlyn Hunting for Eggs

Here is a video of Kaitlyn at the Easter egg hunt.  The kids were only allowed 10 eggs each.  She only got 4 and you can see why....she was very reluctant to pick the eggs up so all the bigger kids scooped them all up!

Pregnancy: Week 20

Week 20: Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

I'm still feeling well and we are now busy trying to find a name for our little melon.  I think I may have started feeling him move, which is very exciting.  I can't wait for Ron to be able to feel him, too!  We keep reminding Kaitlyn that there is a baby in my belly.  She will frequently walk up to me, lift up my shirt and say "mimi", which is her way of saying baby.  She then gives my belly a kiss.  It's so adorable!

Kaitlyn's 1st Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday, we took Kaitlyn to the Easter egg hunt at the Ambassador's house.  The egg hunt area was for 0-3 year olds.  The eggs were pretty much just scattered on the floor or "hidden" in the bushes. Most of the kids were older so Kaitlyn didn't have a chance, but she did do well with the 4 eggs she found.
She liked the Easter Bunny just as much as she liked Santa.

Pregnancy: Week 19

Week 19: Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

We had our big ultrasound this week (after it was cancelled last week) and we are happy to announce that we are having a BOY! :)  We are beyond thrilled, as both Ron and I wanted a boy.  Baby Boy was more than cooperative during the ultrasound and there was no mistaking his gender.  Before the doctor even said a word, after one look, Ron threw a celebratory fist in the air.  We don't have any names picked out just yet.  We agreed not to even discuss it until we knew what we were having and neither of us came into this pregnancy with a favorite.  So, we're definitely open to suggestions.  Here is a pic of Baby Boy Tambo:
When we were home last, we bought this shirt for Kaitlyn:
and I just purchased this for Baby Boy:
We're going to have so much fun shopping for the little guy! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Remember last year, when Kaitlyn was just over a month old and wore this adorable dress for St. Patrick's Day?
Unfortunately, I didn't have an outfit for this year, but I thought, "Hmmm, maybe the dress would fit her as shirt!"  When I got the dress out and saw that it was size 'newborn' (I forgot she ever wore clothes that small) I figured it wasn't going to work.  Well, lucky for us, she's a petite girl and got a 2nd wear out of it! :)

Isn't it crazy to see her wear something from a year ago?  It really shows how much she's grown.

We went to the embassy for lunch and everyone thought she was such a cutie (as usual). When Ron got home from work he enjoyed a nice cold beer and dyed it green, of course.

Kaitlyn thought it was really cool and wanted a taste for herself.  Don't worry she didn't actually get any.

I made shepherd's pie and a cabbage & potato bake for dinner to finish off the Irish themed day.  It was yummy!  Hope everyone had a great day!

Pregnancy: Week 18

Week 18: Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

Tomorrow is the big day (we hope) that we'll find out of it's a boy or a girl!  Yay!

Kailtyn Babbles

Here is a video of some random clips of Kaitlyn.  She's talking so much more (mostly in her own language) and she tries to repeat a lot of what we say.

Kailtyn Loves Pop Tarts

This morning I was in the middle of eating a Pop Tart when Kaitlyn woke up from her nap.  As soon as she saw me eating it, she wanted some.  I gave her a taste and she immediately loved it.  I decided to giver her her own and grab the camera.  She loved it!

Pregnancy: Week 17

Week 17: Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

When I saw that an onion was this week's comparison food, all I could think of was my favorite ogre, Shrek.

Shrek: Ogres are like onions.
Donkey: They stink?
Shrek: Yes. No.
Donkey: Oh, they make you cry.
Shrek: No.
Donkey: Oh, you leave em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs.
Shrek: NO. Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers. [sighs]
Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions.
So, this week I'm referring to the baby as my little ogre. :)  One more week and we hope to find out if we'll be having a boy or girl ogre!  We can't wait.  I'm feeling great despite a touch of food poisoning (I think...maybe it was some crazy 24 hour bug?) I had earlier this week.  Either way, it wasn't pretty, but it's over.

37 years!

I wanted to wish my parents a very happy 37th wedding anniversary.  They are amazing parents and an amazing couple.  Their relationship has been one I've always admired.  Congrats on another year, Mom and Dad!  We love you! xoxo

Pregnancy: Week 16

Week 16: Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

Nothing major to report on the pregnancy front.  I'm still feeling great...just a little frumpy though. I hate the stage of pregnancy where you look more frumpy and out of shape than you do pregnant.  That's where I'm at right now.
